I use the Info Unlimited IND50 induction heater when I have mismatched glass and electrodes, that is, 12mm or smaller glass with a 15mm electrode. Rather than risk overheating the glass, I'd rather convert the electrode with the IND50.

I haven't had problems converting the electrode, they seem to get hot enough, although you have to move the coil around a little to get the full length of the cathode red. But I'd like to see them use a material for the head that is a little more resistant to heat and cools a little faster--maybe a teflon-type phenolic, since they warn that the device is not intended for production runs as it must cool down between uses.

I understand that there is a clamp-type induction heater (often used in oven pumping in Holland I've been told) that is hand held and can be easily moved from electrode to electrode. Anyone know anything about this type?

As for power supplies, check out Tech 22 as well. They are very reputable and I think their products are finished a little better than Info Unlimited. --Chris.
