I have no experience with the griffen cutter but I'm wondering if you are trying to make a cut after the glass has cooled too much or is that how you are suppose to use it? When using a sharp file I always make a cut in a curve when it is still hot and if for some reason I get a crack-back I can still save/repair that part of the curve.
